Just recently the first spring has finished in the history of BC "Astana". Someone may object: why the first, if the official club, sponsored by the Fund of National Welfare, "SamrukKazyna", was established in March 2011? Well, let us take these objections in consideration, agree with themin absentia, and correct: the first game spring of the capital team. After all as is known, its first official match "Astana" had at the pitch of Kazan "Basket-hall" against UNICS on October 2 last year, and in a few days it started also in the national championship.

What was this first springfor the very young capital club? More than successful, we must say. Let us remember everything again. This season Kazakhstan basketball leader started with two victories over the "Almaty" in the regular championshiptournament. On March, 16 "Astana" which has remained a candidate to qualify for the playoffs of the VTB United League almost to the finish of the tournament(that would be a pleasant sensation, if in the first year of its existence the club has made such an achievement!), managed in the SC Khimki "Innovator" to beat one of the strongest clubs in the continent –the winner of the Europe Cup ULEB of the 2011/1012 season BC "Khimki". At the end of March basketball team, proudly bearing the name of our capital, having won in Almaty one by one such teams as "Barsy," "Tigers", "Tobol" and BC "Almaty", already in the second time in its history became a Kazakhstan Cup holder. It seems like a paradox: one year of the club – and at once two identical national trophy! But here Kazakhstan Basketball Federation has strived, carried out RK Cup-2011 in December last year, and the tournament for the Cup 2012 scheduled for March this year. Well, at the end of gameseason – the march of BC "Astana" in the semifinal and final playoff series of Kazakhstan championship, where the capital team in all matches carried out has won and by the right now officially got the right to be called the strongest basketball club of the country. The achievement is worthy of all respect: during the whole spring of 2012 BC "Astana" gained victories in all carried out duels!
