Astana terminated contact with Matteo Boniciolli

Basketball club Astana officially announces termination of contract with head coach Matteo Boniciolli. Contract was terminated by mutual consent.
 
For two seasons in the Kazakh club Italian specialist led the team to the championship in the National League of Kazakhstan (2011/12, 2012/13) and three times won the national cup. Also, Matteo Boniciolli repeatedly proved his professional skills in the VTB United League. In the season 2012/13 team under his leadership reached a playoff VTB United League, thereby fulfilling all the tasks set before the team.
 
This summer Matteo Boniciolli became the head coach of Kazakhstan Basketball National team to participate in the Asian Championships. Team has successfully passed the first stage of the group round, beating teams from Bahrain, Thailand and India. Overall in the team standings Kazakhstan was 8th in the Asian continent.
 
Matteo Boniciolli :

– I am grateful to the administration of the club, grateful to the sponsor Samruk- Kazyna for the trust and for the work they’ve
 done. During these two years the team has become my home, there were victories and defeats, but I am happy that I have worked with Astana. I wish for Astana to continue being successful, I will keep watching Astana games, will support the team, because Astana was my team. Thank Kazakhstan!

Next match on December 7th in the regular season VTB United League against Khimki , Astana will perform with Strebkova Vitaly as a temporary head coach.
